AORC Junior Coaching
Another season of the Australian Offroad Championships is about the kick off, meaning it is the perfect time for race prep. Motorcycling Australia has started to incorporate this junior coaching, with fundraising for the International Six Day Enduro Teams, which is a wonderful idea. We did the days coaching at Glen Echo, just outside Gympie and I got the pleasure of working with my super-fast pal, Fraser Higlett.
Although I am no longer racing the AORC’s, I did for 13 years, and have a fair chunk of experience to impart. It’s also a really great opportunity for these juniors to hear first-hand what it’s like to race at the world level, to work with companies in the industry and in Fraser’s case, be a part of the Husqvarna Factory Team, and we touched on fitness, eating and recovery.
This coaching was a little different to most of the stuff that I do, simply because it was so race and enduro specific. All the juniors that participated have already started what I hope is a long and enjoyable enduro career. It was a really fun day and good luck to all the guys and girls at Toowoomba on March 9-10.
A quick little thank you goes to Glen Echo for hosting, MXstore for the goodie bags and Fraser for being a legend co-coach.
